The first company that entrepreneur Jason Cohen ’96 launched was Mamma Says, a small but successful food manufacturing company that tucked a tiny bit of advice into every packaged biscotti. Like this one: “When your ship comes in, make sure you’re not waiting at the airport.” It’s one of Cohen’s favorite sayings, he told graduates Wednesday at the winter commencement ceremony for the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and it has stayed with him for nearly 20 years.

Maryland Smith Students to Host Winterfest Bazaar Dec. 8 at Shady Grove

Maryland Smith students in the Business Management class at the Universities of Shady Grove are staging a Winter Bazaar Crafts Fair from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Building II, Rockville.  The public is invited to participate in winter-themed activities and purchase unique products from local craft creators and businesses. Participants can get their gifts wrapped and decorate holiday cards, Santa hats, stockings and dreidels. The event also includes a prize raffle and kids can take photos with Santa.
