It’s like a stack of international postcards, combined with a science fair and infused with real-life experience and learning. And every year, it’s a fascinating exhibition of global study abroad programs. The Center for Global Business at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted its fifth annual Global Showcase on Feb. 13, 2020, presenting projects from study abroad programs of the Winter 2020 term.

Pines, dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering, as the 34th president of the University of Maryland, effective July 1.

With 65 publications over the past five years in elite management journals, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is fifth among U.S. business schools in the latest Texas A&M/University of Georgia Rankings (TAMUGA) of Management Department Research Productivity.

Smith School of Business completed another successful cycle of the faculty-led, short-term study abroad programs. This past winter semester, the Center for Global Business offered five programs that explored different topics in social entrepreneurship and innovation, accounting, supply chain management, globalization, and Brexit.

On December 10, 2019, Maryland Smith hosted Stacks on Smith, a night for students to relax during finals week and enjoy a pancake breakfast. Launched in 2013 by the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC), Stacks on Smith began as a way to help promote community unity and establish new Smith School traditions. For students like Ned Engelbride ’20, a finance major, the event presents an ideal setting to interact with both peers and professors during a busy period in the semester.
