Maryland Smith is home to a number of centers of excellence, which help our students and alumni dive deeper into complex ideas in the marketplace, through research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Centergize is the opportunity for you to learn more about these centers, their impact, and how you can be involved with them. The event is set up for you to hear brief remarks from all the participating centers followed by breakout rooms, where you can learn even more about three of the centers of your choosing.

Are you competing in Pitch Dingman Competition, Do Good Challenge, Ag Innovation Challenge, SPH Gold Innovation Award, a classroom pitch competition, or just generally want to improve your pitching skills? Come to Pitch Practice!

Immediately following Dingman Friday advising — hop online, grab yourself a snack and learn how to up your game. Pitch Practice is very interactive, so be ready with an elevator pitch or to screen share a pitch deck (max 5 minutes) that you are working on. Incomplete pitches are encouraged as well.

Ladies First Founders (BMGT 369D) is the Dingman Center’s class for female entrepreneurs at the University of Maryland. Taught by Sara Herald, our Ladies First champion, this one-credit course is open to undergraduate women working on businesses. During this virtual session, here from female founders who have completed the course. Panelists are currently TBD.

Join us as Holly DeArmond, Managing Director, Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, and Stan Smith, Investment Manager, Dingman Center Angels, present "Angel Investing with the Dingman Center Angels."

Dingman Fridays advising sessions will be held every Friday of the semester from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. virtually on Zoom. These sessions are open to all UMD students, staff and alumni. Venture mentors, subject matter experts, guest advisors and Dingman staff are available to listen to your idea, offer feedback and provide actionable next steps.

Every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. meet with a Dingman Center team member virtually on Zoom. During these brief 1:1 sessions, a team member will introduce you to the center and aim to match you with the resources, advisors, funding, programming, or other support you need.

The Dingman Center Angels (“DCA”) is a Maryland based angel investment group that provides funding to early-stage companies primarily located in the Mid-Atlantic region. Students are welcome to log on and observe these meetings to learn more about raising capital and angel investing.

Exclusively for both current and alumni members of Terp Startup, Pitch Dingman Finalists and Startup Shell, Founders Forum is an opportunity to continue honing our entrepreneurial skills, to learn from our peers, and to catch up with one another. Each month, we'll deep dive into a new topic related to running your businesses in a roundtable-style, while also making time to socialize and chat.
