Tracey Powell

Program Director, Community Engagement

Tracey Powell's primary focus is on developing relationships with high schools and community colleges in the region, to engage a pipeline of students as early as ninth grade. This role is part of the strategic plan for community engagement and will support our partnership with Prince George's County, Montgomery Community College, the expansion of the Shady Grove campus, and with development of inclusive entrepreneurship in high schools.

Most recently, Tracey has been developing a financial literacy program for students in Prince George's County. High school students in grades nine through twelve will be introduced to our elite undergraduate business programs and will have the opportunity to hone their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Students will participate in financial literacy workshops to strengthen their ability to learn basic money management tools, learn how to operate and manage a business, write business proposals, and pitch their business ideas to mentors, faculty, and judges in an attempt to win awards.

To increase enrollment at the Shady Grove campus, Tracey is currently developing an ongoing strategic plan to provide two-year scholarships for transfer students from Montgomery and Frederick Community College, who will declare business as a major at The Universities at Shady Grove.
