Comcast Center was full of good cheer as the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated the commencement of 770 undergraduate students; 254 MBA students; 109 MS in Business and Management students; 12 Joint MS in Business and Management/MBA students; 10 Joint MS in Public Policy/MBA students; 13 doctoral students; and 21 custom Executive MBA students from SAIC on May 20, 2013.

Smith School Honors Six Staff Members with Awards
Six members of the Smith School community were awarded Staff Excellence Awards at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business’ end-of-the-semester faculty and staff assembly on May 10, 2013. These awards were established to recognize the critical role that non-academic staff members play in the Smith School's success. In creating the Staff Excellence Awards, the Smith School strives to single out and personally recognize staff members for their superior performance and significant contributions each year.
Smith School Announces Teaching Awards, Endowed Chairs
Friday, May 10, 2013, was a day for celebration. The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business named two endowed chairs and more than 35 faculty members at the school were presented with teaching awards. The new endowed professorships went to Rajshree Agarwal, who was named the Rudolph P. Lamone Chair for Entrepreneurship, and Vojislav Maksimovic, who was named the William A. Longbrake Chair in Finance.
UMD-Smith Experts Give Job Advice for New Grads, Summer Interns
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The National Association of Colleges and Employers projects companies to hire just 2.1 percent more college graduates from the class of 2013 than they hired from the class of 2012. Meanwhile, class of 2014 undergrads seeking to leverage a summer internship to a full-time position are challenged to set themselves apart and show value to their firm.

For Undergraduate Students Only Studying abroad takes a financial commitment and the University of Maryland and the Robert H. Smith School of Business are working together to make it affordable for everyone. Need-based and merit-based scholarships are available. Students currently receiving financial aid may be able to apply all, or some, of it towards study abroad.

The Smith community came together on May 2, 2013, to celebrate the achievements of top undergraduate students at the 13th annual Dean’s Undergraduate Senior Awards Dinner. More than 70 students, faculty and staff enjoyed a dinner at Van Munching Hall. The much-anticipated annual celebration was the cap on the academic year and a final celebration before course finals and commencement.

Third Annual Smith's Got Talent, April 18
MBA students at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the Third Annual Smith's Got Talent showcase on Thursday, April 18,2013, outside of Van Munching Hall. The entire community came to watch the talent show, which was opened by The Smith Experience Graduation Showcase. The Smith Experience is six credits of experiential learning that can be taken across the five areas: consulting, global, social value creation, investing, and entrepreneurship.
