Maryland Smith Recognizes Winter Graduates in Virtual Commencement

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated its winter graduates in a virtual commencement ceremony on Sunday. During the ceremony, which followed the university’s main commencement event, 203 undergraduate students, 70 MBA students and 339 business master’s students were recognized for the completion of their degrees. Additionally, 47 students celebrated finishing the Online MBA, six the Online Master of Science in Business Administration, and 41 the Executive MBA.

Jeffanie Rantung-Kramar, ’20, says blackjack taught her a great deal about overcoming adversity. Rantung-Kramar recently delivered the graduation keynote for the 2020 CollegeTracks virtual commencement. CollegeTracks is a youth advocacy program in Montgomery County, MD., that seeks to help first-generation college students manage the challenges of higher education.

Leadership starts with understanding people, keynote speaker Dana Ritzcovan ’93 told graduates on May 19, 2018, at the undergraduate commencement celebration for the University of Maryland’s Robert H. EMBA Cohort 16 Crosses the Stage

July 29, 2017 - The sun peeked out of the clouds, heralding the end of a long, heavy rain just as Executive MBA graduates from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business marked the culmination of a challenging, transformative journey. During his commencement address, Associate Dean Mike Faulkender pointed out what an enriching experience this was, not only for the EMBA graduates, but for faculty as well.

Tickets are not required for the Smith ceremony or the main campus ceremony, which is on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. Smith’s keynote speaker is Richard L. Novak ’62, operating partner at Linden Capital Partners. YongHyeok Joo, class of 2017, will sing the National Anthem. The graduate speaker is Rahul Sood and the undergraduate student speaker is Adam Greene.

Graduation day was July 23, 2016, for 43 executives at the Riggs Alumni Center, supported by more than 300 friends, family, faculty, and staff. Dean Alex Triantis congratulated the graduates on completing the rigorous 19-month journey, culminating with a celebration of the fifteenth Executive MBA cohort at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
