Play-by-Play of Cupid’s Cup Game Day

Let’s start at the very beginning On April 22, 2015, a crowd of nearly 1,000 descended on the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center for the 10th annual Cupid’s Cup, chaired by Under Armour Founder and CEO Kevin Plank ’96 and hosted by Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. It’s a very good place to start(up) Attendees had the chance to talk to student and UMD alumni entrepreneurs at the Startup Showcase and test products before the main event.

8 Tips for Taking a Professional Headshot

1. Keep it simple. When it comes to headshots, less is definitely more. The focus should always be on YOU and your face, not any other part of the photo. 2. Be confident! Confidence and effort go a long way, and a great headshot can help you get noticed by employers. Once you have a professional headshot, be sure to feature it on LinkedIn, Twitter and your personal website.

10 B-school Tips from Smith MBA Students

"A lot has happened since August 2014, so I thought it would be interesting to reflect upon my experience at the Smith School to-date," says Allison Davern, first-year MBA student at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, in her latest blog post. "When I put pen to paper, I realized that my growth and memories have been strongly influenced by my wonderfully creative classmates. 18 Winners Selected for Smith’s Second Photo Contest

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, the judges of Smith’s Photo Contest had 199,000 to read through – that’s approximately a 633-page book, in case you are curious. We received 199 submissions for our second iteration of the Smith Photo Contest at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and after a month of online voting and judges’ deliberation, we are proud to share the 18 winning photographs from the talented Smith community.

10 Days, 15 Site Visits – Accounting Students Take DC

This month, accounting undergraduates at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took 10 days to visit 15 accounting destinations in Washington, D.C., as part of Jim McKinney's "Tax Avoidance, Tax Policy, and Tax Research Techniques" course. Students met with individuals, groups, and organizations that create, influence, interact, enforce, and adjudicate U.S. tax policy.
