When appointed as the University of Maryland president in 2010, Wallace Loh inspired the greater Maryland community with his challenge to “Lead Fearlessly.” Now, 10 years later, Loh is stepping down as president and entrusting future generations of Terps to continue the work he began.

For the hundreds of students poised to graduate this spring from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, commencement day is nearly here. And while the event will be virtual, our pride in and excitement for these graduates is very real.

USM Ends Search, Calling Clark School Dean ‘Precisely the Right Person’ for Role By Maryland Today Staff  The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents yesterday appointed Darryll J. Pines, dean of the A. James Clark School of Engineering, as the 34th president of the University of Maryland, effective July 1.

With 65 publications over the past five years in elite management journals, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is fifth among U.S. business schools in the latest Texas A&M/University of Georgia Rankings (TAMUGA) of Management Department Research Productivity.

After more than 25 years of service to the University of Maryland, Alexander Triantis will step down as dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business on Aug. 14, 2019. He will be joining the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business as dean. Ritu Agarwal, the Robert H. Smith Dean’s Chair of Information Systems and senior associate dean for faculty and research, will serve as interim dean beginning Aug. 15, while the university conducts a nationwide search for a permanent successor.

Executive MBA student K.J. Hughes ’14, a veteran of the sports and entertainment industry, learned early that success hinges on one thing: Relationships. “All businesses are interrelated through relationships,” he says. “As long as you can navigate putting together resources and using your communications skills and your networking skills to be able to find answers when you’re stuck, that’s really the linchpin to the success that I’ve had over the course of my entire life.”
