Smith Undergrads Participate in Biz Quiz

A team of three students from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland competed against teams from the nation’s other top 23 business programs at the third annual Nationwide-Fisher Biz Quiz hosted on the campus of the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University on Nov. 15, 2008. The final rounds were held at WOSU public television’s production studios at Columbus' Center of Science and Industry (COSI) on Nov. 16.  

QUEST Celebrates 15 Years of Excellence at Annual Brumberger Innovation & Consulting Conference

More than 250 people packed Van Munching Hall’s Frank Auditorium to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Smith School’s undergraduate Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Honors Fellows Program and take part in the program’s annual Brumberger Innovation and Consulting Conference, held the evening of Dec. 4, 2008. Named for 2007 alumnus Matthew Brumberger whose financial support sustains conference, the event showcases student consulting projects for corporate and nonprofit clients, faculty, parents and peers.

Smith School Undergraduate IT Program Listed Among U.S. Top 10 TechRepublic Special Report Cites Student Preparedness for Leadership Roles

The Robert H. Smith School of Business undergraduate information technology (IT) program was listed among the U.S. Top 10 in a special report released by the business technology news network TechRepublic on Nov. 3, 2008. The school was cited as among the nation’s best for students seeking leadership and managerial roles in the IT field, as well as for recruiters seeking the best talent. According to Jason Hiner, editor-in-chief of TechRepublic, in the introduction to the report, “A degree from one of these 10 programs will provide a great foundation for a successful IT career.”

Developer Richard Perlmutter Talks Real Estate as Business Week Featured Speaker

The Smith School’s undergraduate program kicked off the new school year in fine style with its Fourth Annual Business Week, September 8-12. This year’s featured Business Week speaker was Richard Perlmutter, co-founder ofArgo Development Company, which develops retail, office, residential, industrial, and urban mixed-use projects throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

U.S. News Ranks Smith School’s Undergraduate Program Among Nation’s Best

College Park, Md. – August 22, 2008 — The undergraduate program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is ranked No. 17 in the nation, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report college ranking report, “America’s Best Colleges 2009,” released today. The Smith School also ranked highly in a number of business specialty categories — with its Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship programs listed among the nation’s top 10 and a total of nine areas listed among the nation’s top 20.
