Stacks on Smith Senior Pancake Night
As the 2013 calendar year comes to an end, the Smith School faculty and staff are celebrating our 2014 Senior Class with the Inaugural Senior Pancake Night: Stacks on Smith. On Wednesday, December 18, the senior class will be treated to a pancake dinner, served by their favorite faculty. Outfitted in aprons and chef hats, Dean Triantis, Dean Mullins, Professor Basu, Professor Harms and many others will serve up pancakes and wish our students well as they head into final exams and the home stretch of their undergraduate studies.

Smith School's Holiday Video Shoot - Join Us Dec 5
Dear Smith Community: Please join us on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. in Van Munching Hall's Pownall Grand Atrium for our annual holiday video shoot. We will be shooting some scenes inside and then will join on the front steps for our "Happy Holidays!" cheer. Wear festive attire, Maryland Red, or just come as you are.

Leading the Way in Diversity Efforts with the Help of Corporate Partners
This summer, Smith joined the ranks of other LEADing business schools. From July 14 to Aug. 1, the Smith School hosted the first Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) program, bringing 30 minority students from across the nation to Van Munching Hall to learn more about business. The program was designed to increase the number of underrepresented minority students who graduate with a business degree.
Local High School Girls Attend Future Women in Business Conference
The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed 100 young women from nearby high schools in Prince George’s, Montgomery and Howard Counties to the Future Women in Business Conference on October 19, 2013. Hosted by the Smith School Women’s Society and sponsored by PwC, this conference encouraged high school girls to explore an undergraduate degree and future career in business. Guests heard from keynote speaker Melanie Thomas Armstrong, a partner in PwC's Public Sector Practice (PSP), and were encouraged to “Seize Your Future!”
Undergrads Rub-Elbows with Top Investors at Barron’s Roundtable
For the past five years, undergraduate students from adjunct professor Joe Rinaldi’s Futures, Options and Derivatives class at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business have attended the Barron’s Roundtable to rub elbows with some of the top investors in the country. Smith Global Fellows Get Firsthand Experience in International Consulting
As part of the Global Fellows Program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, three groups of undergraduate students got the unique opportunity to play the role of professional consultants last week, pitching real-life business solutions to an international non-profit organization. The experience is part of a course for Global Fellows – BMGT 468P “Practicum in Global Consulting” – that offers students the chance to partner directly with a global organization in an effort to develop effective and executable new business strategies.
