Smith School Receives $10M Gift from Smith Family
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland announced today a gift of $10 million from the Robert H. Smith Family Foundation to support MBA scholarships, undergraduate leadership programs and facility enhancements for the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The gift will also continue to fund the school's Center for Social Value Creation.
Smith Senior BBQ
On Sept. 9, 2015, the undergraduate Class of 2016 gathered in the Van Munching Courtyard for the Third Annual “Feed the Terps” Senior BBQ, the first in a series of events designed to celebrate seniors at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. “The casual and community-oriented feel of the event definitely reflected the excitement and pride everyone has to finally be a Smith Senior,” said senior Liya Ai. “It’s fun to see so many familiar and friendly faces to celebrate the beginning of another great year.”

QUEST Welcomes 90 Students
Ninety students joined the Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) program this year, kicking off the semester with an orientation to their new program. QUEST is a multidisciplinary, reality- centered program for University of Maryland undergraduates from three participating schools. Students participate in a challenging course of study that focuses on innovation, quality systems management and teamwork and co-curricular programming aimed at bringing diverse knowledge, skill and perspective to enhance their professional and personal development.
Smith Freshmen Attend Day of Service
More than 70 freshmen in the College Park Scholars’ Business, Society & the Economy program (BSE) began their college life by completing a day of community service. On Friday, August 28, one day after having moved onto campus, the BSE students fanned out to several sites across Montgomery County dedicated to helping the homeless.
Freshmen Focus on Personal Brand at Smith Leadership Institute
The Smith School's nearly 500 incoming freshman started their college experience with a good breakfast, loud music, and a chorus of cheering on Saturday, August 29 at the Xfinity Center. The Smith Leadership Institute, sponsored by Ernst & Young, gives students the opportunity to get to know each other and become oriented to the culture and community at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
