Undergrads Compete in KPMG Excel Competition
On April 12, 2017, three teams of undergraduates at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business competed in the 2017 KPMG Excel Competition at the annual TechFest event. The event is organized by the school’s department of decisions, operations and information technologies and two student clubs: BITS and iTBT.
Undergrads Participate in Wake Forest Marketing Summit
A team of four undergraduates from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C., in early April 2017 to compete against other business school student teams from around the globe in a highly-selective Marketing Summit. The event, hosted by Wake Forest University’s Center for Retail Innovation, chooses only 14 teams (seven graduate and seven undergraduate teams) from scores of applicant teams and challenges each to research and present their findings and recommendations to solve a marketing case problem.
Hospitality Business Fellows Visit Hilton Worldwide
On April 14, 2017, the Hospitality Business Fellows (HBF) from the Robert H. Smith School of Business visited the Hilton Worldwide corporate headquarters in McLean, Va. Hosts Kimo Kippen, chief learning officer, and Jasmyn Franklin, lead recruiter, introduced Tru by Hilton, the company’s newest brand, which targets millennials with stylish rooms, innovative lobbies and the latest technology.
Smith Student Sends Artwork to Space
Freshman Sara Cha at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will have her artwork exhibited at the International Space Station for four weeks after winning UMD’s Space Patch Mission contest. “I am fascinated with space from an artistic viewpoint,” said Cha, a marketing student from Rockville, Md.
