Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship Announces New Leadership and Expands Campus Role

College Park, Md. – September 18, 2012 – The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business announced new leadership of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship as the center moves to further integrate the entrepreneurial process into the student experience. Elana Fine will head the Dingman Center in her new role as managing director. Rajshree Agarwal, professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, will provide leadership for research and formal education programs fostered by the center as academic director.

Record Year for University of Maryland’s Dingman Center Angels Investments in 2011 Give Eight Regional Startups a Boost

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The end of 2011 marked the close of an active year for the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and its Dingman Center Angels investor network. In the past year, members invested in eight regional companies, making 2011 the network’s most active year since its founding in 2004. Investments included Brazen Careerist, CirrusWorks, Nexercise, SevaCall, Spinnakr, Spotflux, Veenome, and YouEye.

Beijing, China - January 5, 2012 — The University of Maryland’s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business awarded $10,000 to winners of the 2012 China Business Plan Competition, in partnership with the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University in Beijing. The January 5 contest to present the best business plan pitch also included Chinese teams from Tianjin and Zhejiang Universities and Smith’s Israel partner school, the Technion—Israeli Institute of Technology.
