From PhD to Professor

Smith’s PhD program ranks No. 11 in the world (Financial Times, 2014), and the school ranks No. 6 in the world for research (University of Texas, Dallas, 2013).

"My time at Smith taught me how to be both rigorous and collaborative in my research,” said Seth Carnahan, PhD ’13, who was placed at the University of Michigan upon graduating. “These two traits do not often go hand-in-hand in academia, and it is a tribute to Smith’s unique environment that I was able to pick up both of these skills during my time there.”
