UMD’s Smith School of Business Makes Pledge to Women

School to Announce ‘50/50 by 2020’ Plan at Community Event  COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Feb. 16, 2015) — Women remain underrepresented in MBA programs across the United States, but the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is pledging to close the gap within five years. The school will announce its 50/50 by 2020 Pledge on March 23, 2015 (rescheduled from March 5 due to inclement weather), during the school’s fourth annual Women Leading Women symposium and International Women’s Day celebration.

Smith Hosts MBA Students from Australia

For the fifteenth year, the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School  of Business hosted 45 MBA students from Australia for a two-week USA  Business & Culture Tour in January 2015. The program is the highlight of an  active collaboration between the Smith School and RMIT University (the  Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology), including a vibrant semester  exchange program research connections, and this summer, a two-week BMGT  course taught for Smith students in Melbourne by Mary Harms, clinical  associate professor in marketing at Smith

Nominate Favorite Profs for Krowe Award

All faculty, program directors, deans, department chairs, alumni, and students of the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business are invited to nominate deserving Smith School faculty members (i.e., tenured, tenure-track, Tyser Teaching Fellow, lecturer, adjunct, or Ph.D. student) for one of several Krowe Teaching Awards in areas of general excellence. 

18 Winners Selected for Smith’s Second Photo Contest

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, the judges of Smith’s Photo Contest had 199,000 to read through – that’s approximately a 633-page book, in case you are curious. We received 199 submissions for our second iteration of the Smith Photo Contest at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and after a month of online voting and judges’ deliberation, we are proud to share the 18 winning photographs from the talented Smith community.

Financial Times ranks Smith MBA in top 25

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Jan. 26, 2015) — A new Financial Times ranking recognizes the full-time MBA program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business among the top 25 in the nation and top 50 in the world. The Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2015, released today, also scores Smith’s PhD program top 10 in the world.

Smith Takes Leadership Role at Reaching Out Conference

MBA students and career coaches at the Robert H. Smith School of Business were highly involved in making the recent 2008 Reaching Out Conference a major success. "Reaching Out" is the largest annual conference of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) graduate business school students. From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2008, nearly 1,000 students, business leaders, and recruiters gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. to network and celebrate diversity.

University of Maryland Wins APHA Codeathon

Congratulations to the University of Maryland CHIDS-led team that was one of the winners of the second annual American Public Health Association’s Codeathon! The competition took place on November 13-14 during the association’s annual conference in New Orleans.

Smith MBA Program Ranked 17th by Businessweek

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has climbed from 24th to 17th in Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2014 ranking of full-time MBA programs.  Among categories measuring strength in educating and best preparing MBAs for their careers, Smith is sixth in faculty-research expertise, based on articles published  in 20 top business journals from 2009 to 2013. 

UMD-Smith Hosts M&A Competition; Tepper Wins

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Oct. 28 2014 – Students representing some the country’s top MBA programs competed to offer the best pitch in the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business 8th annual Mergers and Acquisitions Competition, held Oct. 23-24 at the university’s College Park campus.
