The 32nd Annual Doctoral Awards Banquet

On Wednesday, May 16, 2012 doctoral students, faculty and guests celebrated the achievements of the 2011-2012 academic year. It was a night to recognize students at the Robert H. Smith School of Business for academic milestones and extra achievements, as well as honoring doctoral students with awards. Upon welcoming everyone to the banquet, Dean Anandalingam spoke about the success of the PhD Program and recognized the hard work of the students by the increase in conference presentations as well as Financial Times placements.

Blanco, Loock and Veihmeyer Receive Staff Excellence Awards

Three staff members at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business were honored at the school’s faculty and staff assembly on May 11 as the recipients of the 2012 Staff Excellence Awards. The Staff Excellence Awards were established in 2008 to recognize the critical role that non-academic staff members play in the Smith School's success. In creating the awards, the Smith School strives to single out and personally recognize staff members for their superior performance and significant contributions each year.

13th Annual Dean’s Undergraduate Senior Awards Dinner

The Smith community came together on May 2, 2013, to celebrate the achievements of top undergraduate students at the 13th annual Dean’s Undergraduate Senior Awards Dinner. More than 70 students, faculty and staff enjoyed a dinner at Van Munching Hall. The much-anticipated annual celebration was the cap on the academic year and a final celebration before course finals and commencement.

Smith School Hosts Inaugural Business Summit in Baltimore

Baltimore’s Biopark was abuzz on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Inaugural Smith School Business Summit. Hosted by the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, the event brought together more than 250 people, including Smith School students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Baltimore-area business leaders for an exciting night of networking and collaborative thought leadership.

Smith Hosts Spring EMBA Networking Event

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed executive MBA(EMBA) alumni, current students, faculty, and administrators to a special networking event on April 17, 2012, at The Mayflower in Washington, D.C. Professor Joyce E. A. Russell – Distinguished Tyser Teaching Fellow and Senior Executive Education Fellow and newly appointed vice dean of the Smith School – led a discussion on the changing nature of the workforce, along with the following alumni panelists:

Accounting Teaching Scholars Honored

Students, faculty members, corporate partners, and alumni celebrated a year of accomplishments at the Accounting Teaching Scholars dinner and reception on Thursday, April 26. The Accounting Teaching Scholars, an Undergraduate Fellows program, are undergraduate accounting students who serve as discussion leaders and teaching assistants for the Smith School’s two introductory accounting courses while reviewing material in preparation for the CPA exam.
