Smith, UMD Unveil 2 New Programs for Top Scholars

The University of Maryland and its Robert H. Smith School of Business are launching two new undergraduate programs that will give highest-achieving students a big-picture view of business and industry in the changing workplace. The Interdisciplinary Business Honors Living-Learning Program and the Smith Business Leadership Fellows Program are each designed to enrich the college experience for the highest-achieving undergraduate applicants and further nurture their intellectual curiosity.

$1.5M Gift From Fishlinger Family Foundation to Fund Entrepreneurship Center, Career Advising

The University of Maryland will receive a $1.5 million gift from the Fishlinger Family Foundation to support the Robert H. Smith School of Business’ Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences’ Joel and Kim Feller Advising and Career Center. The first $1 million of the donation is designated to help fund the Dingman Center’s programs, operations and other initiatives that help students launch their own startups. The other $500,000 will go to the Feller Center, to endow a Fishlinger director of career planning.

Fortune Ranks Smith MBA, OMBA Among Best in U.S.

Maryland Smith’s Online MBA and Full-Time MBA programs are among the best in the country, according to a new ranking published by Fortune Education. Smith’s OMBA was listed as No. 6 in the United States in 2021. The highly acclaimed program also places among the top 10 in rankings from U.S. News & World Report and the Financial Times. Meanwhile, Maryland Smith’s flagship Full-Time MBA program ranked as No. 26 in the country in 2021, according to Fortune Education.

Maryland Smith’s Rachel Yu Named Among “Undergraduate Researchers of the Year”

Maryland Smith’s Rachel Yu ’21, a graduating senior majoring in information systems and government and politics, was selected as one of the University of Maryland’s “Undergraduate Researchers of the Year” for 2021. Yu was honored with a $1,000 award and a plaque from the Maryland Center for Undergraduate Research and the Office of Undergraduate Studies.

Welcome Dean Konana

With the start of 2021, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is welcoming its new dean, Prabhudev Konana. Konana joins Maryland Smith from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, where he served as associate dean of Instructional Innovation.

Maryland Smith Undergrad Named AMA Student Marketer of the Year

David Rosenstein ’20, a senior pursuing a dual degree in marketing and management, was selected as the 2020 Student Marketer of the Year by the American Marketing Association. The prestigious award recognizes one student nationwide for demonstrating superior leadership and service to the AMA, academic achievement and impact on their community. The award was announced on March 14 at AMA’s International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.
