ABA, University of Maryland Partner to Launch Enterprise Risk Management Advanced Professional Development Program
WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association and the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business have collaborated to present Enterprise Risk Management, a new advanced professional development program designed for senior risk management professionals across the banking industry. Registration is now open for the five-day program, which will be held Oct. 31 – Nov. 4, in Washington, D.C.
Smith’s Business Academy Visits Alumni in NYC
Undergraduate students in the Smith Business Academy at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to New York City last weekend (April 29, 2016) with Associate Dean Victor Mullins. “The members of the Smith Business Academy have been working diligently for the entire year in efforts to develop professionally, socially and academically," said Mullins. This is, in fact the mission of the Smith Business Academy: to develop students professionally, socially and academically as a community of minority African American and Latino students.

In the face of hotel industry disruption, Marriott International’s answer is to grow, the company’s president and CEO said April 26, 2016, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The Bethesda, Md.-based hospitality giant is poised to become the world’s biggest hotel company later this year with the acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, allowing it to create more connections with middle-class travelers worldwide.
Smith Undergrads Take Second in Wake Forest Marketing Analytics Summit
A team of five undergraduates from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took home second place in this year’s Wake Forest Marketing Analytics Summit, a case competition held annually at WFU’s campus in Winston-Salem, N.C. After 2 weeks of preparation and an intense day of competition, the students returned triumphantly to College Park with the second place trophy and $5,000 in prize winnings. Smith won the competition in 2015, 2013 and 2009.

Smith Celebrates Seniors in Business Honors
On Monday, April 18, 2016, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the annual Smith Business Honors Convocation dinner at the Riggs Alumni Center to celebrate graduating seniors and welcome newly admitted Business Honors students. During the event, 20 graduating seniors were recognized for completing the program. Each senior shared a piece of advice derived from their experience at Smith, ranging from encouraging peers to find a faculty or staff mentor to taking advantage of all Smith and the University of Maryland have to offer.
