Get To Know the Smith Alumni Board

The Smith Alumni Board (SAB) strengthens alumni connections with the Smith School through events, networking, and philanthropy. Committees focus on alumni engagement, career services, and fundraising, creating opportunities for mentorship, experiential learning, and community-building while promoting the school’s mission and goals.

New Active-Learning Classrooms Named For Alumni

The Smith School celebrated two new active-learning classrooms: a virtual teaching studio funded by Bill Boyle ’81 and an experiential learning space supported by Ab ’81 and Kristen Krall. These state-of-the-art facilities advance innovative, flexible education for students.

Flagship Society Donors

The Smith School has a new display to recognize members of the Flagship Society—donors who have made $250,000+ in lifetime contributions. These visionary supporters play a pivotal role by endowing scholarships, professorships and innovative programs. They are also supporting new and renovated facilities, and making other strategic investments to help cement Smith as a global leader in business education.

Alumna Says Smith MBA Was “Transformational” in Career Development

Rose Cohen, MBA ’03, credits her Smith MBA for her career success, particularly in leadership and teambuilding. She and her husband endowed a scholarship to help others benefit similarly. Cohen advanced in banking, notably at J.P. Morgan and Citibank, before stepping back to pursue board opportunities.

All in the Family

Earning a Smith degree spans generations in individual families. Alumni share stories with younger family members about their experiences at the school and subsequently, those relatives often end up attending Smith themselves.

Now, more than ever, people are investing in real estate. It is a great way to save for retirement, develop passive income, and makes for good general financial planning. On its own, real estate offers cash flow, tax breaks, equity building, competitive risk-adjusted returns, and a hedge against inflation. Real estate can also enhance a portfolio by lowering volatility through diversification, whether you invest in physical properties or REITs. Typically, that focus is only given to residential properties.
