Undergrads Adapt to Find Jobs, Connect, Celebrate Online

Despite social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, Maryland Smith undergraduates can still attend a career fair, visit top companies, connect with recruiters, meet with advisors and administrators, and celebrate together this spring – all virtually. Smith’s offices of Undergraduate Programs and Career Services are innovating and adapting to bring events and activities online to serve students and keep the community strong.

Undergrads Connect with 127 Employers

PepsiCo, Under Armour and the Big Four accounting firms joined newcomers like Comcast NBCUniversal and M&T Bank at the fall 2019 Undergraduate Career Fair hosted by the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Overall, 127 employers from all sectors and industries connected with more than 1,200 Maryland Smith students on Sept. 20, 2019, at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md.

Incoming MBAs Deliver Solutions to Morgan Stanley

A team of four incoming MBA students took home an $800 prize on Aug. 22, 2019, for winning a live case competition sponsored by investment bank Morgan Stanley.  First-year students in the full-time program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business were divided into 12 teams during their two-week orientation. The challenge was to figure out how Morgan Stanley could encourage collaboration on a newly formed global team with offices in different time zones. Students were given three days to prepare their recommendations.
