Comcast Center was full of good cheer as the Smith School celebrated the commencement of 200 undergraduates, 120 MBAs, 48 MS in Business/Accounting students, and two doctoral students on December 21.

The annual “Diversity at Smith” event was held at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business on Nov. 8, 2008, allowing potential MBA candidates a look inside the Smith MBA experience. The event provided the opportunity for prospective candidates to understand what Smith has to offer through its full-time and part-time MBA programs and the cultural and international diversity the school encompasses.

The Smith School's Fall Ball, one of the year's most highly anticipated events, will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Marriott North Bethesda. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner at 8 p.m. A DJ will start spinning tunes around 9 p.m., and the dancing will continue until 11:30 p.m.

Smith Cos. and naming donor to the school, will deliver the keynote speech at the May 23 graduation ceremony. The event will be held at 4 p.m. at the Comcast Center on the university's College Park campus.

April was recognized as Sustainability Month this year at campuses around the country. The Smith School held a number of events for both the students and community to participate in that focused on sustainability and going green in recognition of the month. The events were focused around not only bringing about awareness of environmental issues to participants they were also designed to show how individuals can build companies around sustainability and the environment.

The Part-time MBA Association invited all MBA students, alumni, faculty, and administration to attend "Secrets to C-Level: Leveraging Business Contacts & the Smith Community to Launch Your Career into the Executive Stratosphere on Oct. 28, 2007. The event, held in the Colony Ballroom of the Stamp Student Union, featured the executive vice president and chief information officer from Fannie Mae, Rahul N. Merchant. Merchant has held these positions since November 2006.
