We are excited to welcome all of our new and returning students to the Robert H. Smith School of Business. This past week has been an amazing opportunity to connect with our community of students and we are excited to see what they accomplish this year.

The University of Maryland was named the top college in the nation for LGBTQ+ students by  Campus Pride and BestColleges. It leads the list of 2023’s Top 25 LGBTQ+-Friendly Colleges, recognizing educational institutions that foster inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTQ+ students. Maryland was No. 1 in 2020 and appeared among the top 25 in 2021 and 2022.

Students in Maryland Smith’s MBA and Technology Management Graduate Programs are making the most of that opportunity thanks to a unique partnership with the Federal Lab Consortium through its Federal Labs Academic Accelerator (FLEX) program.

University of Maryland's Smith School enhances AI and machine learning curricula, hiring Balaji Padmanabhan as full professor. With 25 years of expertise and a focus on AI ethics and implications, Padmanabhan strengthens programs, including STEM-designated MBAs. His arrival reflects Smith's commitment to AI-driven leadership in business education.

New graduates of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business heard keynote testimonials on overcoming adversity and the life-changing benefits of a Smith degree during commencement exercises on May 24 at the XFINITY Center in College Park. The ceremony recognized 1,191 undergraduate students, 1,065 business master’s and MBA students, 10 PhD students and 32 EMBA students.

For the second time, a team from the Robert H. Smith School of Business won the 2023 NASBITE International Graduate Student Case Competition. Steve Baker, President and CEO of this year’s case company, Procedural Technologies, thought the team of Tamekia Graham, Melissa Simpson, Keshav Gupta, and Shiv Jethi, presented the best analysis.
