Smith School Hosts 40 Visiting Students from Australian University
Forty graduate students from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, visited the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business for a two-week study program, Jan. 8-19, 2018. Eight Smith School faculty shared their expertise with the students on topics ranging from international business to personal branding and from integrated marketing to supply chain management. The array of content shared with the students showcased the Smith School’s vast areas of expertise.
Students Use the Environment As Their Classroom in Spain
This past winter-term, 20 students at the University of Maryland had the opportunity to learn about design and innovation in the Spanish context. While in Spain, students had a full itinerary of company visits, workshops and cultural activities. In Barcelona, they visited the iconic La Sagrada Familia, took a guided tour of the gothic quarter, and even had the opportunity to meet with local business students. In the capital city of Madrid, students took time to reflect in Retiro Park and enjoyed traditional Spanish tapas.
CIBER Award Recipient Studies China’s Economic Development
The Center for Global Business (CGB) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business awarded Andrea Foster, chair of Business, Economics, Accounting, Computer Applications, and Paralegal Studies at Montgomery College, with the opportunity to attend a Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program to China in May 2017.
Smith School Celebrates International Education Week
Students, faculty and staff throughout the Robert H. Smith School of Business and across the University of Maryland celebrated International Education Week, Nov. 13-17, 2017. The Smith School hosted a range of events – from an alumni panel on global competencies in the workplace to an international dance workshop – to celebrate the global mindset of its students, faculty and staff.
Highlights from the First Smith Day!
On Nov. 15, 2017, students, faculty, staff, and alumni celebrated Smith Day, a new tradition that celebrates the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Hundreds of students, faculty and staff joined the inaugural celebration in Van Munching Hall and at campuses in Shady Grove and Baltimore, Md., and Washington, D.C. Nearly 300 alumni attended Smith Day events at nine locations around the world, including China and the Philippines.
