Maryland Smith’s Louiqa Raschid Named IEEE Fellow

Professor of Information Systems Louiqa Raschid at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. School of Business has been named a Fellow by the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 

The designation represents the highest grade of IEEE membership, and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Raschid, who holds a joint appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies, was cited for her contributions to data management, information integration and data mining. During the course of her research career, Raschid has made pioneering contributions toward data management in multiple nontraditional domains.

Her multidisciplinary research spans the fields of computer science to business information systems, with a strong link to important data science applications focused on the life sciences and health sciences, humanitarian disaster relief applications, human behavior modeling within social streams, and financial and economic data science.
