Berkshire Hathaway - Students Headed to Annual Meeting

Conglomerate holding company Berkshire Hathaway is one of the world’s most respected companies, run by legendary investor Warren Buffett. Holders of the New York Stock Exchange’s priciest stock will make the pilgrimage to Omaha, Nebraska next week for the company’s annual shareholder meeting – and a group of lucky undergraduates will go along for the ride to learn about the company, its impact on the economy, and hear words of wisdom from the “Oracle of Omaha” himself.

In this edition of Smith Business Close-Up with the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, David Kass talks about Berkshire Hathaway, the annual shareholder meeting, and the upcoming student trip.

Kass is a senior lecturer is the finance department and closely follows Berkshire Hathaway and Buffett. He is a Berkshire Hathaway shareholder and regularly attends the annual meeting. His teaching interests include financial restructuring and strategy, and investment management at the MBA level, as well as advanced financial management, business finance, and investments at the undergraduate level.

Smith Business Close-Up is co-produced by the Robert H. Smith School of Business and Maryland Public Television. The television segment focuses on the latest thinking in business management, and features in-depth interviews with Smith School faculty and other members of the school’s community of business leaders.
