Smith MBA Students Take Team-Building Retreat
Forty-five second-year MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to Maple Tree Campground in Rohrersville, Md., for a weekend of camping and team-building activities, Sept. 6-8, 2013. The students were joined by Smith faculty members Shreevardhan Lele, assistant dean of academic affairs for MBA programs and Ralph J. Tyser Distinguished Teaching Fellow of Business Administration, and Oliver Schlake, Distinguished Tyser Teaching Fellow.

Innovation Fridays: MBAs Start With Startups
The 2013 Smith Marketplace challenged MBAs to create and operate a business in their very first week on campus as part of orientation. They worked in teams of five and had $150 to get their business off the ground.
More than 100 Smith Students Study Abroad over Summer 2013
This summer 105 students traveled to Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, and Spain for short-term abroad courses offered by the Smith School’s Office of Global Initiatives. More than 80 graduate students participated in three courses while 19 undergraduates traveled to Germany and Italy for a course on entrepreneurship.
MBA Orientation 2013
The Robert H. Smith School of business proudly welcomed its newest class of full-time MBA students during a 7-day orientation at the end of August 2013. The Class of 2015 has 105 students who came together to meet each other, second-year MBAs, faculty and staff before starting their journey for their MBA. They were welcomed by Dean Alex Triantis, Vice Dean Joyce Russell, Associate Dean Ken White and many more members of the Smith community during their orientation.

Marketing Analytics Roundtable Highlights
The Robert H. Smith School of Business’s Center for Complexity in Business held its second-annual Digital Marketing Analytics Roundtable Aug. 1, 2013 at the Smith Suite in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The roundtable was held in collaboration with Teradata. Smith marketing faculty members Bill Rand, the director of CCB, and Roland Rust, the executive director of CCB, led the event.
