Join the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Monday, May 22, 2017, as we celebrate the accomplishments of more than 1,000 business graduates at two commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. Tickets are not required for the Smith School ceremonies but please note that tickets are required for the campus-wide ceremony on Sunday, May 21. Smith Grad Students Participate in Data Jam

On two consecutive Fridays in April 2017, students from the full-time MBA, MS in information systems and MS in marketing analytics programs competed in the first Data Jam at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. A Data Jam is a competition in which participants are given a data set and a prompt before being let loose to apply all their creativity and analytical prowess to the problem.

Smith Finance Students Visit CFA Institute
On March 31, 2017, a score of finance students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business travelled with David Kass, clinical professor of finance, to Charlottesville, Va., to visit the CFA Institute. The students received a brief overview of the global association, whose mission is to set “the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence in the industry.” The CFA has close to 150,000 members around the world.
Smith MBAs Hone Communication Skills
MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business have an opportunity to develop their communication skills through the new Smith Executive Communication Program. “I wanted to take advantage of this program to build on my soft skills,” MBA candidate Andres Villegas said. “I now feel more confident about speaking in front of big groups.”
