2023 Spring Commencement: Robert G. Hisaoka ’79 and Vishal Khera, MBA ’00

New graduates of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business heard keynote testimonials on overcoming adversity and the life-changing benefits of a Smith degree during commencement exercises on May 24 at the XFINITY Center in College Park. The ceremony recognized 1,191 undergraduate students, 1,065 business master’s and MBA students, 10 PhD students and 32 EMBA students.

Are You at Risk of Losing Your Job to ChatGPT?

Some workers are concerned that ChatGPT will replace them. Fortune reports they might be right, noting that though OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot was just launched in November of 2022, it’s already being used in the workplace. Seventy-four percent of U.S. employees familiar with the technology use it at work.

The Smith School curriculum is very well designed and that enriched my learning experience. I was able to build a deep connection with some of the faculty who mentored me and were always open to discussing ideas. These relationships helped me secure funding for startups I co-founded, helped me hire students to assist with research projects and provided recommendations for career opportunities.
