Students, Recruiters take part in Annual Industry Day

On Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland held its annual Supply Chain Industry Day, a three-part networking event for students in the supply chain management major. Industry Day hosted recruiters from many of the foremost companies within the supply chain field, including PepsiCo, DuPont USA, Danaher, Unilever, W.L. Gore, JB Hunt, Hilti, Avendra, Johnson & Johnson, Dominos, Target, JDA Software, PPG, Luxottica, The Home Depot, ABC Rental, CIA, McCormick, and Northrop Grumman.

Supply chain event to link recruiters with students

Recruiters and students will connect Oct. 10 during the 22nd annual Supply Chain Industry Day at Van Munching Hall. Organized by faculty and undergraduate students in the Supply Chain Management Society, the event promotes Smith’s top-ranked supply chain management major and fosters relationships among Smith students and employers. Industry Day features a career and networking fair and a student lunch with recruiters.

Smith School of Business today named Michael Roth, vice president of North American Operations at Amazon.com, as the 2012 “Person of the Year.” Roth was recognized by students and faculty at Smith’s 20th annual Industry Day career and networking event.

Smith Logistics Students Present 'Person of the Year' Award at Industry Day

The Smith School's Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management Society (LTSCM Society) and the Supply Chain Club (SCC) named Linda Morgan as their 2003 "Person of the Year." The award was presented by Allison Healy, co-president of LTSCM, at the Sixth Annual Industry Day on October 31, 2003. The first woman to receive the award, Morgan was chairman of the former Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) and its successor, the Surface Transportation Board (STB), from 1995 through 2002.
