Smith School to Host 11th Annual Monte Carlo Night
Join the Smith School community for the largest social event of the year: Monte Carlo Night 2013. The annual fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 16. It is organized by current MBA students and brings together MBAs, alumni, faculty and staff for a night of socializing, dancing and gaming. This year, the event will be held at the historic Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The black-tie-optional gala usually draws nearly 1,000 attendees. The party starts at 8 p.m. and lasts until midnight.

A student team representing the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took second place in the team and individual writing competitions at the 2012 Biz Quiz hosted by Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business in November 2012.

The 31 executives were travelling across the U.S. on a study trip, visiting several U.S. cities and universities to learn more about the global economy from a U.S. perspective.

“Big Four” Day Draws Big Student Turnout
A little rain didn’t stop students from coming out to meet recruiters at the first ever “Big Four” Accounting Day, Sept. 6, 2012, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The “Big Four” accounting firms — Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) — welcomed undergraduates and master’s students studying accounting . The students and recruiters mingled over a barbeque lunch under tents in the outdoor courtyard of Van Munching Hall.
