Aisha Hasan exceeds the model. Entering the Smith School in fall 2014, Hasan is one of three finalists for the 2014 NextGen Award for Exemplary Leadership.
Smith Alumni Enjoy Private Event at National Aquarium
On June 7, 2014, alumni of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business enjoyed a private evening event at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Md. The sold-out event was a huge hit and hundreds of alumni, family and friends enjoyed a leisurely tour, avoiding the heavy crowds typically endured during normal operating hours.
Professors Open Their Homes for Charity
A formal receiving line awaited dinner guests on June 3, 2014, in a scene inspired by the PBS series Downton Abbey. “You can never be too classy,” explained the host, Charles Olson, Professor of the Practice and Director of the Business Honors Program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith Offers Leadership Academy to UMD Staff
Select University of Maryland staff in College Park now have the opportunity to take part in the UMD-Smith Leadership Academy, a cutting-edge leadership development program delivered by the Robert H. Smith School of Business, in partnership with University Human Resources. The deadline for applications for the fall cohort is June 30, 2014 (or sooner for some offices).
Longtime Smith School Champion Joe Mattingly Dies at 84
U.S. Army veteran and educator Joseph Guy Mattingly Jr., a professor emeritus and longtime undergraduate director at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, died May 17, 2014, at his home in Annandale, Va. He was 84.
Smith Commencement: Highlights
An enthusiastic crowd gathered in Comcast Center on May 22 and May 23, 2014, to cheer on a brand-new crop of proud Smith School alumni. The Smith School celebrated the commencement of 850 undergraduate students, 230 MBA students, 220 MS and MFin students, and 10 doctoral students. For the first time, the school held separate ceremonies for undergraduate and doctoral students, MBA students, and MS and MFin students. This allowed students and their families to participate in shorter and more intimate ceremonies.
