William Longbrake Addresses Smith School Graduates

More than 300 students graduated from the Robert H. Smith School of Business on December 19, 2004. William Longbrake, PhD '76, vice chair at Washington Mutual, addressed graduates during the commencement ceremony, held at the Cole Student Activities Building. The school awarded approximately 250 bachelor's degrees, 80 master's degrees, and five doctoral degrees.

As graduating seniors, MBA candidates, and PhD candidates walked onto the arena floor with heads held high and future expectations even higher, members of the audience stood anxiously in hopes of getting a quick glance of their loved ones. Commencement is certainly a time of excitement for new beginnings, lasting friendships, and cherished memories.

Nearly 400 students joined family and friends on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, to celebrate their graduation from the Smith School of Business. Paul J. Norris MBA '71 (pictured right), chairman and CEO of W.R. Grace & Co., a premier global specialty chemicals and materials company, delivered the keynote speech.

Congratulations, Smith School Graduates!   Approximately 1,000 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students graduated from the Robert H. Smith School of Business on Friday, May 23, 2003. This includes graduating seniors attending the undergraduate program at the Shady Grove Center, the first class to graduate from the new program. The ceremony was held on campus at the Comcast Center.

Winter Smith School Commencement Highlights, December 2001

Hundreds of Smith School students joined their families and friends in celebration at the schools winter commencement ceremony, Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001. Approximately 287 students applied for bachelors degrees, 78 for masters degrees, and six for Ph.Ds. A couple dozen August graduates also participated in the Smith School ceremony, held in Cole Student Activities Building.
