University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Joins Global Business School Network

Academy of Management Recognizes Top Smith Entrepreneurship Research

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business was recognized for top entrepreneurship research at the 69th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Chicago, August 7-11. The Smith School’s department of management and organization and Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship co-hosted a reception in Chicago during the conference to celebrate the faculty and PhD student research achievements. Ernst & Young Foundation Donates $250,000 to University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business

College Park, Md. – June 22, 2009 — The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced a $250,000 gift to create the Ernst & Young Freshman Fellows Orientation Program and endowment. The gift will support orientation programs and presentations for Smith’s two-year Freshman Fellows program, an innovative combination of cohort-style classes, experiential learning, co-curricular activities and events that create a cohesive learning community linking students, faculty, staff, corporate partners and alumni.

University of Maryland Business School Expands to Space in Baltimore BioPark

College Park, Md. – May 27, 2009 – The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced it has acquired new space in Baltimore at the University of Maryland BioPark. The Smith School is moving its existing location from the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) School of Nursing to expand MBA programs and partnerships, and to include dedicated space for alumni offerings in Baltimore.

Bill Mayer Delivers Keynote Speech at Commencement Congratulations, Smith School Graduates!

In a lively ceremony on May 22, 2009 at the Comcast Center, four PhDs, 100 executive MBAs, 300 MBA/MS, and 825 undergraduates graduated with business degrees from the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Former Smith School Dean William E. Mayer ’66, MBA ’67, delivered the keynote address as thousands of friends and family members gathered to cheer on the newest Smith Terp alumni.

William E. Mayer to Speak at U-Md. Business School Commencement

College Park, Md. – May 15, 2009 — The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced that William E. Mayer, senior partner of Park Avenue Equity Partners, chairman emeritus of the Aspen Institute and former dean of the Smith School, will deliver the keynote speech at the May 22 graduation ceremony. Financial Times Ranks Smith School Among World’s Top Business Schools
