On Sept. 7, 2016, the Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed a new wave of students, none of which were freshmen. This unique group of students are transfer students from far and near, and to them, a whole new world is about to reveal itself.

Undergrads Participate in Annual Service Day

For the 21st year, freshmen at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business who are in the Business, Society and the Economy (BSE) program spent their first full day on campus participating in the Annual College Park Scholars Service Day. To date, 18,980 College Park Scholars from all programs have collaborated with 610 community partners and provided over 66,130 hours of volunteer effort. Freshmen are joined by upper class student team leaders, UMD staff and faculty.

Smith Grad Wins Award for Commencement Speech

A strategy firm founded by former Bill Clinton speechwriters has recognized a recent graduate from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business for “giving one of the best undergraduate student commencement speeches of 2016.” Rachel George, who completed dual marketing and English degrees in spring 2016, won second prize in the West Wing Writers inaugural Mortarboard Awards.

Welcome & Welcome Back, Smith Terps!

It may still feel like the middle of summer, but orientation events are already underway at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business for the 2016-17 school year. Full-time MBA students will take part in a two-week orientation that begins on Aug. 8. International MBA students are already here at Smith to kick-of their program. Students in the specialty masters programs start their one-week orientation on Aug. 12. New part-time MBA students will be at Van Munching Hall for orientation on Aug. 13.
