Climbing the ranks, the Smith School makes waves in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings, securing the No. 11 spot in the renowned Best Online MBA Programs for 2024. This ascent is accompanied by notable advancements in key categories, with general management and marketing programs now standing at No. 5, while the MBA for veterans program reaches No. 9.

Palpable optimism and endless opportunity filled the halls of the College Park Marriott Conference Center as undergraduate and graduate students participated in career events at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Hosted by Smith’s Office of Career Services as a two-day affair, the Smith School’s Undergraduate Career Fair and Graduate Career Expo united students, alumni and industry professionals under one roof where they explored employment opportunities and jump-started careers.

The University of Maryland was named the top college in the nation for LGBTQ+ students by  Campus Pride and BestColleges. It leads the list of 2023’s Top 25 LGBTQ+-Friendly Colleges, recognizing educational institutions that foster inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTQ+ students. Maryland was No. 1 in 2020 and appeared among the top 25 in 2021 and 2022.

University of Maryland's Smith School enhances AI and machine learning curricula, hiring Balaji Padmanabhan as full professor. McGeady Bushnell and Wing Pokrywka represent the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business among Poets & Quants “Best & Brightest Online MBAs: Class Of 2023.” The pair, according to P&Q, are among 52 students from the “world’s top-ranked programs” who excel in criteria including academic performance, classroom contributions and professional achievements.

Maryland Smith welcomed 85 new students into its Flex MBA and Online MBA programs this January. The new students spent a weekend participating in Smith’s opening residency program, Jan. 14-15, at Van Munching Hall in College Park, Md.

The Smith School’s MBA programs are now STEM-designated, recognizing the analytical, data-informed nature of the curriculum. The STEM designation acknowledges the value of the degree for those seeking to work in business analytics and technology-driven enterprise.
