The Executive Education team at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Executive is excited to announce that Dr. Anil Gupta will be joining the miniMBA2.0 faculty to teach the June 2-3 course on Strategy. Dr. Gupta is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on strategy and globalization.

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business was recognized for top entrepreneurship research at the 69th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Chicago, August 7-11. The Smith School’s department of management and organization and Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship co-hosted a reception in Chicago during the conference to celebrate the faculty and PhD student research achievements. Many global companies have entered China and India, but only a few have gotten it right. Frequently they miss growth opportunities while focusing on offshoring and cost reduction. They tap the wealthy urban market but don’t know how to profit from the masses in second and third tier cities. And few have a clear plan for addressing competition from players from within China and India such as Lenovo, Chery Automobile, Haier, Infosys and Tata.

The Smith School's Anil Gupta, Ralph J. Tyser Professor of Global Strategy and Entrepreneurship, is featured prominently in a multichannel media report on how firms can develop successful business strategies for China and India. A full-page newspaper article, coauthored by Gupta and Smith School MBA alumnus Haiyan Wang, was published April 28 in the Wall Street Journal as part of its Business Insight report, which also includes video and audio interviews as well as an online discussion.

Anil K. Gupta, Ralph J. Tyser Professor of Strategy and Organization and research director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship as well as the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), has accepted an invitation to join the Advisory Board of Asia Silicon Valley Connection (ASVC), one of the two largest networking organizations based in Silicon Valley (San Mateo, CA).
