The University of Maryland’s Smith School will help strengthen Fort Meade’s modernization through Maryland’s first Army intergovernmental support agreement, providing faculty expertise and student talent for installation projects while expanding experiential learning opportunities and the state’s skilled workforce pipeline.

Takesha Brown and Brendan Dunne became the first graduates of the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business Doctor of Business Administration program, launched in 2023. Both completed the information systems track and praised its rigor, collaboration and career impact.

David Bruce Smith and the Smith Family Foundation donated $10 million to the University of Maryland, including $5 million for the Smith School. The gift funds endowed faculty positions, AI curriculum integration, innovative student programs, experiential learning opportunities and business research initiatives.

The University of Maryland’s Smith School launched its first undergraduate space commerce course this spring, giving students firsthand exposure to the rapidly growing aerospace industry.
