U.S. News Ranks Smith Schools Part-time MBA Program No. 13 in U.S. School also Rated Among Nations Best in Five Specialty Areas

College Park, Md. April 3, 2006 The part-time MBA program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is rated the No. 13 program in the United States according to the latest U.S. News & World Report business school report. The magazines America's Best Graduate Schools 2007 Edition also ranks the Smith School among the nations best in five specialty areas. These rankings include:

  • No. 6 - Information Systems
  • No. 12 - Supply Chain/Logistics
  • No. 17 - Entrepreneurship
  • No. 21 - Management
  • No. 24 - Production/Operations

Smith's part-time MBA program has 1,000 students and offers classes at three locations including downtown Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Rockville, Md. The Smith part-time MBA program is also listed as the No. 7 such program in the United States by Forbes magazine.
As indicated by the latest rankings, the Smith School is also widely recognized for the integration of information technology into the business curriculum, as well as its offerings in entrepreneurship, and supply chain management. In addition to offering a range of supply chain management courses, the school is home to the Supply Chain Management Center which provides research, consulting services and education highlighting the latest advances in e-supply chain management. The Smith Schools entrepreneurship program, which has also been rated among the nations best by Entrepreneurmagazine, is supported by the nationally recognized Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and the New Markets Growth Fund, which offers MBA students the opportunity to work with a $20 million venture capital fund.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on an evaluation of the nation's 399 accredited master's programs in business.
