Tata Innovation Dialogue connects students with industry leaders

The Center for Social Value Creation hosted its annual Tata Innovation Dialogue on Oct. 22, 2025, featuring Tata Consultancy Services executive P.C. Thomas and Michael McCabe. The event connected 100 students with industry leaders to explore technology, retail innovation and global internship opportunities.

On Oct. 22, 2025, the Center for Social Value Creation hosted its annual Tata Innovation Dialogue in College Park, Maryland, offering students an opportunity to explore the intersection of technology, innovation and global business.

This year’s event featured P.C. Thomas, head of the Tata Consultancy Services retail business unit, who led a discussion on how technology is transforming the retail industry, from supply chain innovation to evolving consumer experiences. Thomas shared real-world examples of how TCS companies are leveraging data analytics, sustainability initiatives and digital transformation to stay competitive in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Students also heard from Michael McCabe, resident director for North America, who discussed the Tata Global Internships Program, an international opportunity open to all majors and class years. McCabe explained how the program connects students with Tata’s global network of companies, enabling them to work on high-impact projects across industries.

The event drew 100 undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of majors and schools across the university. Many students described the event as an inspiring look into the future of global innovation and a valuable networking opportunity with industry leaders.

The event underscored Smith’s commitment to connecting students with industry leaders and global opportunities. By engaging directly with Tata executives, students gained insight into how innovation and technology are shaping the future of business.
