Smith School Mourns Loss of Faculty Member Bruce Michelson

It is with great sadness that the Smith School community mourns the recent passing of our colleague and friend Bruce Michelson.

A well-respected lecturer with the accounting and information assurance department and a 35-year industry veteran and practitioner, Bruce was a favorite with students and faculty who will be greatly missed. His outstanding undergraduate teaching and consistent high ratings across a wide range of accounting courses earned him distinction, including the 2006-2007 Krowe Teaching Award.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Aug. 22 (Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring and Mount Lebanon Cemetery, also known as George Washington Cemetery) and a reception followed in the Smith School's Van Munching Hall.

We offer our condolences to Bruce’s family for their tremendous loss. A scholarship fund has been established in his memory. Contributions to the fund can be made to the University of Maryland College Park Foundation and sent to:
