Smith Ranked Top Business School for Graduate Programs in Maryland by U.S. News and World Report

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is the top-ranked business school in Maryland, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 Best Graduate Schools list.

The Smith community is celebrating this newest ranking, which places Smith as the top-ranked business school in both Baltimore, Md. and the Washington, D.C., region and coincides with the grand opening of the school’s brand new campus in Baltimore Peninsula, a dynamic business district with close ties to the nearby Under Armour campus and its founder and CEO, Kevin Plank ’96.

Smith’s Flex MBA, which runs classes for working professionals at the new Baltimore location, is ranked No. 1 in Maryland, No. 2 in the region, and No. 11 nationally among public universities.

The recent ranking also recognized Smith for its Full-Time MBA program and its specializations among MBA and Business Master's programs:

  • Full-Time MBA: No. 5 in the Mid-Atlantic and No. 20 nationally among public colleges
  • Information Systems: No. 8
  • Supply Chain Management: No. 20
  • Business Analytics: No. 21
  • Marketing Analytics: No. 21

“These latest rankings are a testament to Smith’s path forward in this new, rewired world,” said Dean Prabhudev Konana. “We’re amplifying our students' creativity and ingenuity to thrive in an AI-driven world shaped by uncertainty and volatility, all while keeping our finger on the pulse of what’s next in business education. Being ranked as one of the top business schools in the U.S. reflects and validates our dynamic, future-focused programs.”

These rankings take into account peer and employer survey results provided to U.S. News and World Report, excellent employment outcomes for graduates, and a high caliber of student quality. Smith owes much of its success in employment outcomes to the top-notch, AI-informed education provided by its world-renowned faculty, as well as the exceptional career partnership provided by the Office of Career Services.

University of Maryland President Darryll Pines told Maryland Today, “These latest graduate school rankings show the University of Maryland’s strength across a wide variety of scholarly domains and specialties, from the physical and social sciences to business and education. We’re proud that our graduate programs are providing students with the vital knowledge and inspiration to address the most important challenges facing the world today.”
