Smith to Host Annual Undergraduate "Business Week"

On Friday, September 8, Freshman Convocation will kick off Business Week - an annual event for undergrads at Smith. The previous week, 250 freshmen played games, bonded over meals and helped each other complete a ropes course and climbing wall as part of their orientation to the Smith Undergraduate Fellows Program.

On Saturday, September 9, SUSA will host an alumni tailgate, sponsored by ClearChannel as the Terps take on Middle Tennessee. On Monday, September 11, SUSA will hold its annual First Look Fair, so students can check out undergraduate clubs and organizations and Tuesday, September 12, is movie night at the Campus Recreation Center's pool.

On Wednesday, September 13, GE will host a Signature Event. Events include a business expo where students can learn more about GE innovations and businesses during the afternoon. A keynote speech featuring UM alumnus John Loomis, GE Industrial VP HR, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Frank Auditorium, followed by an information session, and then a networking reception at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, September 14, the Second Annual Career Premiere will be held, 5:15 8:00 p.m. in Thomas G. Pownall Atrium, VMH. This is an informal networking event designed to allow freshmen and sophomore students to develop networking skills, interact with professionals in the business world, and find out more about careers at companies that frequently hire Smith graduates.

This year, the Office of Career Management is pleased to present an Undergraduate Career Fair on Friday, September 15 in Cole Field House. "After months of planning we are proud to bring to fruition what employers and students have been clamoring for: an event designed exclusively for business students to connect with the top organizations that recruit at Smith," says Monica Shutte, director of undergraduate student programming. "This event, which we hope will become an annual occurrence, will wrap up Business Week 2006 and will be just one of many great career-focused events that week."
