Join the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business in celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates, during Winter Commencement starting 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md.
Tickets are not required for the ceremony, which also will be streamed live.
The keynote speaker is Jose Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, which focuses on education, workforce, leadership and culture through service and innovation.
Tijerino, who sits on the Advisory Board of Maryland Smith, leads HHF, a foundation that has been recognized as a creative, agile, and impact-focused and which boasts a network of 150,000 vetted 15- to 35-year-old Latinos working in the tech sector, STEM fields, entrepreneurship, finance, media, and other priority areas for the economy.
Tijerino also serves as executive producer of the star-studded Hispanic Heritage Awards at the Kennedy Center, broadcast on PBS stations.
An immigrant from Nicaragua, Tijerino founded The American Project with Notre Dame University, with a mission to see immigrants treated with dignity.
A University of Maryland alum with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Tijerino’s blogs and media presence have made him a national voice on various issues, including diversity, immigration, creativity and youth empowerment.
