Associate Clinical Professor


Nicholas Sougiannis is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Assurance. Prior to joining the Smith School in August 2026, he was an assistant professor of finance at the United States Naval Academy, where he built the school's elective financial education curriculum. His teaching experience includes courses in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and financial markets & institutions. He holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California and a DBA from the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida.

Before entering academia, Nick was an F/A-18 Super Hornet mission commander and instructor in the United States Navy. Over his flying career, he amassed over 2000 flight hours and 491 carrier arrested landings, including nine years as an instructor and over 700 instructional sorties, earning multiple decorations for instructional talent.
