Aysun Alp Paukowits joined the Robert H. Smith finance faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2019. Previously, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Sabanci Business School in Istanbul. Her research interests are empirical corporate finance, credit ratings, credit risk, debt markets, capital structure, financial contracting, and corporate governance. Her research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Finance Research Letters, and International Review of Economics and Finance. Aysun is also an alumna as she received her PhD in Finance from the University of Maryland. As a PhD student instructor at the Smith School, she has won the Krowe Award and the Joseph Wikler Award for teaching excellence. Currently, she teaches the undergraduate level Fixed Income course at the Smith School.
