Finance & Venture Capital Club

The Smith MBA Finance and Venture Capital Association works to prepare students for opportunities in finance-related careers and enhance students' knowledge and understanding of the field. FVC helps students achieve their career goals through mock interviews, resume reviews, job finding strategy sessions, and seminars on careers in finance. The association also contributes through panel discussions that explore a variety of finance-related topics, sponsoring talks by leading professionals in the finance field, and arranging networking events.

Charles Castelly

President

Charles Castelly is an MBA candidate at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, expected to graduate in May 2026. He is currently an analyst for the Mayer Fund, covering the healthcare sector. Prior to the MBA, he was a Financial Analyst in the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, where he supported investments into financial institutions. Charles has a deep understanding of the banking sector in developing economies. He is also a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Military Police Officer. As the president of the finance and venture capital association, he aspires to educate and create opportunities for anyone interested in finance

Swetanshu Arun

Swetanshu Arun is a results-driven MBA candidate at the University of Maryland, with a background in computer science and professional experience in SaaS, consulting, and business strategy. With a strong foundation in data analytics, product marketing, and go-to-market execution, he has led cross-functional teams and driven multimillion-dollar revenue growth across global markets. Swetanshu is passionate about solving complex problems at the intersection of strategy, technology, and innovation. Outside of work, he loves traveling, photography, and sketching manga.

Fun Fact

I rode a Royal Enfield through the twists, curls, and rugged terrains of the Himalayas- an adrenaline rush I’ll never forget.

Elyes Ammar

Yaye is currently an MBA in finance and strategy with a passion for unraveling the complexities of the financial markets. She has six years of experience in market research, M&A and consulting and is currently the portfolio manager of the Mayer Fund; an $8M student-led fund. Yaye’s dedication to mastering the art of financial analysis and her commitment to staying updated on market trends and economic indicators underscore her goal of becoming a leading financial strategist in the investment management industry.

Fun Fact

I love hiking, reading long novels and learnings new skills and languages (currently fluent in 3 languages with an objective of 6).

Harsh Mishra

Vice President of Finance and Operations

Harsh Mishra is an MBA candidate at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, Class of 2026, and currently an analyst with the Mayer Fund, the school’s prestigious student-managed investment fund. With a background in software engineering and experience in growth strategy at United Health Group, Harsh brings a strong analytical and data-driven approach to financial decision-making. He is passionate about Investment Banking, financial strategy, and M&A. As VP of Finance, he aims to bring transparency, structure, and strategic rigor to the club’s operations.

Fun Fact

Harsh is a huge car enthusiast—he can talk for hours about engine specs, design trends, and his dream garage lineup!
