Undergrads Get Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Verizon Center

On Jan. 24, 2017, a day before classes began at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, freshmen in the Business, Society and the Economy College Park Scholars program enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Verizon Center and the Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MS&E) organization in Washington, D.C.

Undergrads Visit Harley-Davidson & Utz Production Plants

Professor Jeff Miller’s students may have wanted to get “on the road” aboard one of the brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycles they saw in York, Pennsylvania, but they settled for a behind-the-scenes tour of how each cycle is assembled instead. On Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, a group of 32 students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took their learning outside of College Park and spent one hour walking along the production floor of the Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations plant, watching from beginning to end, how each cycle is custom built.

Carnival looks to launch a ‘Love Boat’ of its own

SMITH BRAIN TRUST – Love, exciting and new – that’s what Carnival Cruise Lines is going for as its launches its new line of original television programming. Or at least fresh interest in vacations at sea. Carnival Cruise Line is looking to recreate some of the TV magic that helped boost the vacation cruise industry in the 1980s, when the popular hour-long sitcom, “The Love Boat,” was in its heyday and people were flocking to ports like never before in search of a dream getaway.
