Research.com Ranks 17 Maryland Smith Professors Among World’s “Best Scientists”

Research.com named 17 scholars from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business in its latest “best scientists” ranking. The Smith School ranked No. 4 in the United States and No. 5 worldwide in the 2023 Business and Management university ranking, with 11 scholars on the list.

Professor Emeritus Ken G. Smith Receives National Educator Award from Academy of Management

The Academy of Management will honor Professor Emeritus Ken G. Smith with its Distinguished Educator Award in San Antonio next month. The Academy of Management, the oldest and largest scholarly management association in the world with nearly 20,000 members, selected Smith for his work developing doctoral students and junior faculty.

University of Maryland Business Professor Honored with Prestigious Fellowship

College Park, Md. – August 26, 2009 — University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced Ken G. Smith, Dean’s Chaired Professor of Business Strategy, was elected as a fellow of the Strategic Management Society. He is among only 44 fellows in the history of the society and the first Smith School faculty member to receive the honor.

Kathryn M. Bartol, Robert H. Smith Professor of Management and Organization, received her PhD from Michigan State University. She is the past dean of the fellows of the Academy of Management, as well as a past president of the Academy of Management. Her research focuses on knowledge sharing; networks and influence; leadership and empowerment; virtual teams and vital work relationships; information technology and organizations; and rewards, retention, and creativity.
