Expanding the definition of diversity and fostering a culture of inclusiveness were two themes echoed throughout seven company presentations at the Diversity in the Workplace Symposium held Feb. 11, 2013 in the Frank Auditorium at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Brunswick Group, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Fannie Mae, J.C. Penney, KPMG and Target made presentations at the event.
The first-ever cohort of the Smith School’s new Leadership Academy graduated with honors—and delight—on Friday, February 15.
“We live in frothy times when it comes to entrepreneurship,” quipped Jason Shrensky, entrepreneur-in-residence at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, in a recent conversation on entrepreneurship. But Shrensky isn’t pessimistic; he’s just encouraging entrepreneurs to focus on solving problems. Entrepreneurs must be passionate and willing to evolve their ideas, too.
