Stan Litow, IBM: Beyond Responsibility: The Role of Corporate Citizenship in Modern Business

On Thursday, April 14, 2011, Center for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business will host the BB&T Colloquium on Capitalism, Ethics and Leadership, with featured speaker Stanley S. Litow of IBM.

Litow is Vice-President of Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affairs and President for IBM’s Foundation and will speak on “The Role of Corporate Citizenship in Modern Business.” Under his leadership, IBM has been widely regarded as a global leader in Corporate Social Responsibility and prized for its societal, environmental and civic leadership, as well as its labor practices. He was also the keynote speaker for 2010's Social Enterprise Symposium, presented by the school’s Center for Social Value Creation.

The session will also include a panel discussion on “Perspectives on Corporate Social Responsibility” with Dan Waetjen, BB&T; Charlie Linaburg, Marriott International; and Melissa Carrier, Center for Social Value Creation, Smith School.

This event is free and open to all students, Smith faculty and staff, and the University of Maryland campus community.

A pizza reception will immediately follow the event in Pownall Atrium.
